Al-‘Adl; with registered number ISSN:1979-4916 (print) and ISSN: 2615-5540 (online) is a peer-reviewed journal published twice a year (January and July) by Fakultas Syariah, UIN Kendari. The development of Islamic law in modern states is an interesting subject of study for academics and policymakers. Islamic law is believed to have the potential to contribute to the development of civil society. Al-‘Adl aims to serve as an active forum for discussing new ideas concerning the development of Islamic law in both Muslim and non-Muslim countries. This journal is not intended to serve as a forum for normative reflections on Islamic law. Rather, it focuses on the implementation, adaptation, compromise, and incorporation of Islamic law into a country's national law and legal scholarship, based on the principles of democracy, justice, the rule of law, tolerance, and peacebuilding. Al-‘Adl focuses on contemporary issues in Islamic law in Indonesia and other Muslim countries through the Islamic Law approach. The journal provides insights into the contemporary dynamics of Islamic law by focusing on how Islamic law adapts to various interests and circumstances so that it can become part of state law. The journal also examines the practices undertaken by Muslim communities to accommodate Islamic law within modern constitutional and legal states. Al-‘Adl recognizes that Islamic law can serve as a foundation or source for the formulation of modern state law in the contemporary era. Articles that make broader theoretical or comparative contributions are preferred over those that focus narrowly on a particular society. Articles based on a single-country study or a specific case are also expected to address issues that are relevant to the implementation of Islamic law beyond the country or case under examination.
